VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - July 17, 2007) - True North Gems (TSX VENTURE:TGX) is pleased to announce the commencement of diamond drilling at the Aappaluttoq ruby occurrence as part of the 2007 exploration program on the Company's 110 km2 Fiskenaesset Ruby Project, located on the southwest coast of Greenland.
The Phase 1 drill program at Fiskenaesset will include detailed drill testing of the Aappaluttoq occurrence, and exploration drilling of other ruby targets identified along strike on the Ruby Island Line.
The drilling program will comprise a total of 5000 metres with holes ranging from 30 metres to 125 metres. The holes will be drilled in a series of fences ranging from 12.5 metre to 50 metre spacing providing 3-5 pierce points through the mineralized section and, where mineralized bedrock is explosed along strike, a surface sampling point for a 1-3 tonne mini-bulk sample. The majority of the 2007 drilling will be focused around the Aappaluttoq occurrence with a minimum of 8-10 sections to document grade and continuity of the ruby mineralization.
