VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 4, 2006) - True North Gems (TSX VENTURE:TGX) is pleased to announce the successful recovery of 650 kilograms of ruby and sapphire concentrate from its 30 tonne Aappaluttoq bulk sample, extracted as part of its 2006 exploration program at the company's 110 km2 property located near the village of Fiskenaesset, on the west coast of Greenland.
As previously announced (see press Release dated September 6, 2006), True North Gems successfully collected a total bulk sample of 60 tonnes of ruby and sapphire mineralization from two ruby occurances in the Fiskaenesset district in 2006. Initial processing of the 30 tonne bulk sample from the Aappaluttoq occurrence has been completed through the use of the company's pilot scale gravity plant located in Fiskenaesset.
The 650 kilograms of ruby and sapphire concentrate has now arrived in True North's Vancouver office for further processing. True North has now begun complete sorting, grading and gemological analysis with a view to reporting final stone counts for the rough ruby and sapphire later in the fourth quarter of 2006. True North also intends to cut select parcels of rubies and sapphires from the Aappaluttoq bulk sample for later in the fourth quarter of 2006.
