VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 6, 2006) - True North Gems (TSX VENTURE:TGX) is pleased to announce that the extraction of a 60 tonne bulk sample program carried out as part of the 2006 ruby exploration program on the Company's 110 km2 property located near the village of Fiskenaesset, on the west coast of Greenland, has been successfully completed.
The extraction of two 30 tonne bulk samples, one each from the Aappaluttoq and Kigutilik ruby occurrences, was the primary objective of the 2006 program and the completion of this task marks the successful end of the 2006 field season. Processing of the bulk samples remains ongoing at True North's pilot gravity concentration facility in the village of Fiskenaesset and will continue to operate until the project shut-down scheduled for early September.
Both sample sites were geologically mapped in detail as a supplement to an extensive regional geologic coverage. This important geologic field work has identified numerous, additional, similar ruby targets suitable for further testing by means of bulk sampling and drilling in 2007.
Results from the 2006 exploration program in the form of stone counts and grade concentrations is expected to be available in the fourth quarter of 2006.
