VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 9, 2006) - True North Gems (TSX VENTURE:TGX) is pleased to announce that the regional prospecting being conducted as part of its 2006 ruby exploration program on the Company's 110 km2 property located near the village of Fiskenaesset, on the west coast of Greenland, has resulted in the identification of 7 new occurrences of ruby mineralization.

The regional exploration program was initiated by True North's exploration team on June 20, 2006 and is now near completion. The program's mandate was to complete the evaluation of 20 localities with the potential to host ruby mineralization, identified from geological data collected in 2005.

To date, from these twenty (20) prospects, seven (7) new ruby showings have been confirmed.

"The performance of the Fiskenaesset ruby property continues to impress with the investigation of regional exploration targets leading to the discovery of confirmed ruby mineralization at a significant rate," said William Rohtert, True North Gems' Chief Operating Officer.

Additional information on Greenland Rubies, technical reports on ruby exploration and other public documents are available at www.sedar.com or, at the company's website, www.truenorthgems.com.
