The objective of the 2006 field season on Greenland is to expand the collection of ruby mineralization through bedrock bulk sampling in order to further define the grade concentrations and quality of rubies from the Fiskenaesset District. The bulk sampling program will focus on two of the new discoveries made in 2005, the Aappaluttoq and Kigutilik occurrences.
In addition to the bulk sampling, True North's exploration team will also be engaged in the processing ruby bearing material from the Aappaluttoq discovery stockpiled in 2005, detailed mapping of the Aappaluttoq and Kigutilik geology and regional reconnaissance surveys.
True North Gems is preparing to enter the exploitation permit application process and, as such, has initiated environmental baseline surveys in the area of the ruby occurrences. Ruby material recovered from bulk sampling will be processed locally in the village of Fiskenaesset using a pilot scale processing facilities put in place by True North.
In 2005 True North Gems recovered 51.2 kilograms of rough gem and near-gem ruby and pink sapphire from 14.5 tonnes of bulk sample material.
