Nov. 20, 2009 (PR Newswire) -- COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ohio Employee Confidence Index decreased by 1.5 points to 47 in October, according to the latest Spherion® Employment Report. The monthly survey conducted by Harris Interactive® on behalf of Spherion Corporation, reports that more workers are pessimistic about the number of jobs available, and fewer workers are confident in their current employer's outlook.
Results from the Ohio Employment Report:
-- Eight percent of workers believe that more jobs are available, a
decrease of three percentage points from September.
-- Fewer workers, 62 percent, are confident in the future of their current
employer, a three-percentage-point drop from the previous month.
-- Eighteen percent of workers are likely to look for a new job, an
increase of six percentage points from September.
"This month's report is reflective of what we are seeing nationally, so the renewed concerns among Ohio's workers fall in line with the rest of the country," said Robert Schulte, Spherion franchise owner in Ohio. "The unemployment rate has continued to increase and our Ohio Employment Report reveals that more workers are pessimistic about the number of jobs available. However, with retail sales showing better than expected results in national reports, we are hoping that this is a sign that more jobs will become available in our market for the holiday season."
