Next-Generation, COTS-Based Solutions for Military Applications

Aug. 19, 2010 (Business Wire) -- RadiSys® Corporation (NASDAQ:RSYS), a leading provider of innovative hardware and software platforms for next generation IP-based wireless, wireline and video networks, today announced that it will jointly demonstrate next-generation AdvancedTCA (ATCA) and COM Express solutions with key industry partners at AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2010 to be held August 24-27, 2010 in Denver, Colo. The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International’s (AUVSI) annual show is the premiere forum for reviewing, assessing and discussing the successes and shortcomings of current unmanned systems.

RadiSys experts will be on hand in booth #228 to discuss the company’s latest COTS-based ATCA and COM Express technologies for the mil/aero industry.

RadiSys will demonstrate a variety of COTS-based solutions with partners such as Astute Networks, Nolam Embedded Systems, LCR Electronics, RightHand Technologies, SAIC and Tulip Development Laboratories (an Orbit International Company). Highlighted demos include:

RadiSys Promentum® C2 Server

The RadiSys Promentum C2 Server is the industry’s first pre-integrated, portable ATCA platform designed to provide the performance features required for rugged, ground mobile applications. The C2 Server leverages LCR Electronics’ rugged ATCA chassis and Astute Networks’ Edge Storage Blades in a rapidly-deployable, high-performance platform. The demonstration will feature an application integrated on the Promentum C2 Server, developed by SAIC, that will demonstrate an Antiterrorism/Force Protection Readiness Management System (ARMS). The ARMS application will show how real-time data is processed and analyzed in rugged environments.

Future Combat Systems “Man Portable – Battle Pack Computer”

The Future Combat Systems “Man Portable – Battle Pack Computer” is a wearable computer system designed for a 24-hour continuous mission by the Armed Forces. It features a low-power, Intel® Atom™-based industrial -40°C to +85°C COM Express module on a RightHand Technologies designed custom carrier board. The system is equipped with the I/O to connect to military communications, such as two-way radio, optics, GPS and battlefield telemetry, and allows the modern war fighter to quickly identify both friendly forces and enemy targets.

Avionic, Naval and Ground Systems Display

This ruggedized system display is based on RadiSys’ industrial -40°C to +85°C temperature COM Express module featuring the low-power Intel® Atom™ processor. Developed for mobile ground- and air-based weapons platforms by Tulip Development Laboratories (an Orbit International Company) jointly teamed with RightHand Technologies, the efficient power use, reliable performance shock and vibration testing and long product lifecycle of the display were purpose built for the needs of ruggedized mil/aero systems.
