Missouri Mom Wins Waverly 85th Anniversary Decorating Contest
NEW YORK, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NexCen Brands Inc.
(Nasdaq: NEXC) owner of the Waverly brand, is happy to announce the winner of
the Waverly 85th Anniversary Decorating Contest. Julie Hale from Excelsior
Springs, Missouri becomes the grand prize winner for the entry of her Waverly
decorated outdoor patio space. The grand prize winner receives a trip for two
to New York City and a meeting with Waverly spokesperson and home and food
expert, Sandra Lee, popular star of the program, 'Semi-Homemade Cooking' on
the Food Network.
The Waverly decorating contest was judged by the Waverly design team along
with the editors of Family Circle magazine. The Grand prize winner along with
5 runner ups were selected based on originality, creativity, expression, image
quality, and mostly the reinforcement of the Waverly brand message of creating
happiness in the home. According to Rick Platt, Waverly President for NexCen
Home Studio, 'Julie's outdoor environment truly reflects the timeless and
classic aesthetic of the Waverly brand. She like many of our loyal Waverly
customers is a passionate Waverly enthusiast.' Upon informing Julie that she
had won the grand prize she said, 'I am thrilled and can't believe that my
patio drapes sewn by my mother won me the opportunity to meet with Sandra
Lee.'
Linda Fears, Editor in Chief of Family Circle states, 'It was obvious to
us that Julie earned the Waverly Grand Prize. We were moved by Julie's essay
statement of 'How can something as innocuous as fabric bring a family closer
together? ...when 2 teenagers who are difficult to tear away from their
electronic caves... on their own come outside to sit with their parents and
enjoy the evening.' Along with Julie Hayes, Waverly and Family Circle chose 5
runner up winners who will receive Waverly product, a subscription to Family
Circle magazine and a $100 gift card to Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft stores where
Waverly fabric is sold. The runner ups were: 1) Summer Mungle from
Chicamauga, Ga., 2) Carol Freese from Covington, Ind., 3) Courtney Warren from
Rockwall, Texas, 4) Cathy Flynn from Marietta, Ga., and 5) Emily Evans from
Highland, Utah.
