Contango Receives Award from Houston Chronicle

Contango Oil & Gas Company (NYSE Amex: MCF) announced today that the Company is ranked No. 4 in the Houston Chronicle’s Top 100 Houston Based Public Companies of 2008. The award is based on the following criteria:

  • Revenue Growth - Contango ranked No. 1 in this category with revenue growth of 438% for calendar year 2008.
  • Earnings Per Share Growth – Contango ranked No. 3 in this category with earnings per share growth of approximately 773% during 2008.
  • Total Return – Contango ranked No. 7 in this category with a total return during 2008 of 10.6%.
  • Total Revenues – Contango ranked No. 91 in this category with 2008 calendar year revenues of approximately $209 million.
