Comverge Delivers More Than 100 Megawatts to Rocky Mountain Power

First-of-Its-Kind Program Reaches Industry Milestone

Aug. 12, 2010 (GlobeNewswire) --

NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 12, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge, Inc. (Nasdaq:COMV), the leading provider of Intelligent Energy Management solutions for Residential and Commercial & Industrial customers, today announced the successful delivery of more than 100 megawatts (MW) of peak demand load reduction to Rocky Mountain Power through a first-of-its-kind Virtual Peaking Capacity™ (VPC) intelligent energy management program. The program represents the biggest in the state of Utah and one of the largest outsourced demand response projects in North America.

Rocky Mountain Power, a division of PacifiCorp, is one of the lowest-cost electric utilities in the United States, providing one million customers in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho with safe, reliable, efficient electricity. Rocky Mountain Power selected Comverge to manage its Cool Keeper program, an innovative program designed to help better manage electricity demand during the critical summer months. By leveraging Comverge's proven intelligent energy management programs, the utility was able to reduce demand on the state's service area along the Wasatch Front (an 80-mile stretch of territory in Utah), where peak-demand for electricity is the highest on the utility's system. Rocky Mountain Power announced on August 5th that 100,000 of its customers helped fellow customers throughout the Intermountain West manage the regional demand for electricity this summer, simply by being a part of the utility's Cool Keeper program.

Comverge announced a 90-megawatt agreement with Rocky Mountain Power in June 2003. The program was the first residential VPC, Comverge's fully outsourced, pay-for-performance capacity offering, and was a key component of Rocky Mountain Power's efforts to improve system reliability within its service territory and keep electricity costs down. Since then, the program has delivered in excess of 100 MW of peak demand reduction.

"Rocky Mountain Power pioneered the use of innovative intelligent energy management solutions to solve complex energy challenges," said Comverge President and CEO, R. Blake Young. "The Cool Keeper program was the first-of-its-kind and is an excellent example of the key role demand response plays in the larger energy efficiency initiatives of our utility partners as they move towards the smart grid."
