Mar. 19, 2010 (Business Wire) -- The Working Artists Ventura (WAV) project is a state-of-the-art community designed for artists and creative businesses. The project consists of 69 new units of affordable housing, all serving low-income families and individuals from across the region. Fifteen of the units are designed to provide permanent supportive housing, intended to house recently homeless families and individuals from across Ventura County.
RBF Consulting (RBF) provided professional engineering, surveying, mapping and construction support services for the new, mixed-use, high-density project, which has been submitted for consideration as the first LEED certified affordable housing project in Ventura County and the second in the State of California.
The WAV community was designed and built to the high standards of green building technology (LEED certified), including recycled building materials, car sharing, water and energy conservation, and renewable solar power. The project is pursuing a LEED for New Construction v2.2 rating of Silver and has the potential of attaining a Gold rating.
RBF prepared the vertical subdivision map, topographic survey, grading plan design, improvement plan design, utility analysis and offsite improvement plan preparation. RBF Senior Vice President and Office Manager Darin Johnson stated, “With over 60 LEED Accredited Professionals, RBF applies sustainable design principles to assist clients in reaching their goals. This was an unprecedented project that involved input from many sectors of the community and we were privileged to be a part of that process.”
